Wedding hair accessories - 1920s Gatsby theme

So after quite a long (okay, very long..) break from writing we are getting back into the swing of things with some more 1920s themed posts!

Today we are taking a look at accessories to go with those gorgeous dresses from our last post!

This headband looks absolutely decadent! It is under £10 so a bargain if you are looking for something that will really stand out on your big day!

This ebay seller has 13 different styles of hairband to choose from! I thought this one was beautiful but there will be one to go with any dress in this line-up! Another bargain at under £10.

If you want to go really OTT then something with a feather might be for you! Again at under £10 you really don't have to spend a lot of money to look like you've stepped right out of the Jazz Age.

Would you choose to have some 1920s glamour at your wedding?

Decor - a touch of Disney magic

What bride wouldn't want a touch of Disney magic at their wedding?! (Well maybe not every bride, but at averybrokebride we are all for a bit of Disney!)

How gorgeous would these Disney paper flowers be as a bride's bouquet? You can buy these ones on Etsy or if you are super creative you could try your hand at making something similar yourself!

Paper crafts are so popular on Etsy at the minute! This gorgeous garland would be a lovely decoration for any wedding venue.

How amazing would it be to cut your cake with this pretty cake knife and serving set?!

I just love this subtle nod to Disney.. Not all of your guests will understand the Beauty and the Beast reference, but those who do will be very impressed!

This is something I would 100% do at my wedding! Best part is, my husband-to-be is called Andrew and is obsessed with Toy Story. Perfect!

There will definitely be more Disney to come on our blog, but for now we hope you have enjoyed this little selection!

Would you include some subtle hints of Disney or go for a full-on themed wedding?

Colour scheme - Yellow

Yellow is one of my favourite colours. It can be so perfect in Spring and Summer but can also brighten up an Autumn or Winter wedding too!

Why not add yellow pieces to the tables at your reception? You can get creative and do some great DIYs in any colour scheme. We have one similar to this gorgeous 'love' sign coming to the blog soon!

These little DIY felt hearts would make lovely favours, you could even stitch the initials of the bride and groom onto them! They would also make gorgeous little decorations all around a barn or outdoor wedding.

I LOVE sunflowers! I would love to include them in my wedding. A bouquet of sunflowers would be beautiful and look especially lovely with hints of blue or purple!

Staying with my love of sunflowers, how gorgeous is this naked wedding cake with sunflowers?! I have already said in a precious blog post how much I love naked wedding cakes, so pairing them with my favourite flower is definitely a winner in my eyes.

How amazing are these shoes?! If you are planning a vintage themed wedding and want something that is sure to stand out and get people talking then something like these might be perfect!

DIY - flower girl floral crown

During our craft day we decided upon making a little floral crown which would be beautiful for the flower girl/s on your wedding day.  We started our project with these paper roses and a plain girls hairband.

These paper roses were purchased from a craft fair and reasonably priced and the hairband was purchased at a local chemist.

So simple and very effective :)

And here is our gorgeous model showing you all how effective our little creation is :)

Simply stunning! What do you think? Would you like this on your flower girl? Or perhaps you would just like one for your darling little princess or youself ;) Let us know your thoughts by leaving us a wee comment!

Planning ahead :)

Vital question for your big day? What will be going upon your pretty head? Be it a traditional veil, or a vintage inspired piece there are sooooo many to chose from. I am pretty sure of what Irma will want but I thought I'd just browse a few different wee ideas :)

I found this simple, yet pretty one available to buy at BHS

Or maybe something a bit more magnificent? Depending on the dress of course...There are some beautifully detailed ones available to buy from Etsy. Like this...

Or perhaps rather than a traditional type veil you might prefer something quite fabulously vintage such as this beauty
vintage hair

Also...nothing beats red lippy :)

Found a gorgeous Gatsby style head piece availabe on Etsy

And another gorgeous one on Etsy done in lace

So very dreamy :) Whichever you are most attracted too there are many different options and different price ranges available out there. Hope you enjoyed a wee peak at some  :)

Wedding decor - burlap/ hessian

Burlap (or hessian) is a cheap material that is so effective at giving a rustic and charming feel to any wedding. I have found several cute ways of using this material as a wedding decor option.

This is such a simple, gorgeous idea for any outdoor or barn wedding!

This bunting is very pretty and is available from Etsy for £13.42

Alternatively you can get creative and make it yourself by simply cutting triangles out of your burlap/ hessian and pegging them to some string after writing your message.

This cake was in my post about naked wedding cakes which you can read here. The bunting makes it super cute!

How about using this as a gorgeous and budget friendly table runner?

A tattooed bride.

The one question I keep getting asked is, "But what are you going to do to cover your tattoos for your wedding dress?"

Aren't they just gorgeous?!

Why would I want to cover them?

Why is it not okay/ acceptable to be tattooed in a wedding dress?

Both myself and my husband to be are tattooed (and will probably have many, many more by the time the big day comes around) and we both love them. I love the pinup, 1950s style and tattoos are just a part of that look. I know our wedding will have quite a retro style and I fell that tattoos fit in well anyway.

This wedding is just gorgeous! Check out the original post by clicking on the picture.

Why not actually make tattoos a big part of your wedding? I love this idea so much that I think I might look into this for my own big day! You can order some here!

Has this convinced you that tattoos and weddings go together perfectly?

Colour scheme - Blue

I love looking at all the gorgeous colours people choose for their wedding day. Today I am looking at everything blue.

What about this decadent blue wedding cake?

Your bridesmaids could wear pretty sky blue.

How about a subtle hint of "something blue" by adding a few blue flowers into your bouquet?

Like me, you could add a bit of blue in the form of your wedding shoes. Here is a link to the blog post where I talk all about these gorgeous shoes!

Would you keep to one colour scheme throughout? If so, which colour?

The sound of Love

So Irma, how about a music theme to your wedding...I would have a ball! Such amazing ideas for lovers of music :)
http://cat-arzyna.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/umilacze.html

Will you be having a church service? How about this for an order of service? Or perhaps for your menu if you are having a sit down meal for your guests.

This can be found on etsy and are handmade at a cost of 3.57 each.

So arriving at the reception to the guest book. How about this idea for a guest book?

I found this idea on intimateweddings.com
Very cool and retro :)
Oh and for decorating your venue...how cute is this little garland?

This is also available to buy on Etsy and are handmade to order.

Finally, this really great idea for the guests favors and money saving idea also!

So you make and copy a CD of the music from your wedding and leave it for the guests to lift! A perfect memory to listen to over and over again. And not too expensive either. Perfect! I found this idea here.

So, who likes the sound of this tune? ;)

Wedding invitations - Etsy

There are so many places to find amazing, quirky, personal wedding invitations, whether you pay a fortune for them or you download them for free.

I will be looking for ideas for invitations in lots of places but today I have been looking on Etsy which is a great place to search for invitations ranging from printables to gorgeous handmade ones. On Etsy you have to pay for your invitations whether you are printing them from your own computer or having them handmade. The prices can vary from very minimal costs for printing to rather pricey for the handmade items.

If you have a sizeable budget this gorgeous gold set is a beautiful example of what you can buy - starting at $1055 for 50 invitations.

If your budget is more minimal (like mine) then maybe this pretty floral invitation would be a great option at $18.

This map inspired invitation would be gorgeous for any couple who love travel. The prices depend on how many you order starting at £4.00 per invite for 40-49 and dropping to £2.50 per invite for 200+. This seller offers lots of extras such as printing the guests addresses on the envelopes for an extra 35p per invite.

Would you rather pay to have invitations handmade or would you opt for some free customisable printables?

Well, you've got to start somewhere...

With no date set or any plans made... I bought my wedding shoes.

How could I not? When I saw these beauties, I knew they were the ones. I had been thinking about something glittery because I'd love a short 50s style dress and wanted some shoes that would stand out. These lovely little Faith shoes were an amazing bargain in Debenhams in the sale.

Can you believe that these cost £31.50?! Here they are if you fancy them for yourself (whether you are getting married or just love them as much as I do).

I fell in love with the ombre silver to icy blue glitter and it was an added bonus when a friend I was shopping with said, "Wow, they're like Frozen!" I mean, who doesn't want to look like Elsa on their wedding day?

Would you wear bold shoes on your wedding day or opt for something more traditional?
