Decor - a touch of Disney magic

What bride wouldn't want a touch of Disney magic at their wedding?! (Well maybe not every bride, but at averybrokebride we are all for a bit of Disney!)

How gorgeous would these Disney paper flowers be as a bride's bouquet? You can buy these ones on Etsy or if you are super creative you could try your hand at making something similar yourself!

Paper crafts are so popular on Etsy at the minute! This gorgeous garland would be a lovely decoration for any wedding venue.

How amazing would it be to cut your cake with this pretty cake knife and serving set?!

I just love this subtle nod to Disney.. Not all of your guests will understand the Beauty and the Beast reference, but those who do will be very impressed!

This is something I would 100% do at my wedding! Best part is, my husband-to-be is called Andrew and is obsessed with Toy Story. Perfect!

There will definitely be more Disney to come on our blog, but for now we hope you have enjoyed this little selection!

Would you include some subtle hints of Disney or go for a full-on themed wedding?

Think pink!

What girl doesn't love a little bit of pink? So why not on your special day theme your wedding pink?

There are so many ideas to chose from out there. Some pink bunting...perfect for a barn or marquee wedding. We will be showing you at a later date how to DIY your own bunting! The one featured below is available from Amazon.

You could also use the pink paper rose wreath we handmade and featured on a previous blog post:)

There are some gorgeous vintage cake designs to tie in with this theme. Irma is keen to have a naked wedding cake. Here is a gorgeous one decorated in a beautiful pink floral design.

These cakes below were featured on cakegeek. Very fabulously vintage.

Or perhaps this one decorated in lace would be a better alternative?

I sourced this beautiful pink bridesmaids dress for a bargain price of £10 on ebay

And these pink shoes...well I might have to invest in these myself...just because! I found these featured on weddbook. Totally lush!

Would you consider thinking pink on your big day? Let us know what you think. As always we appreciate your feedback!

Will you be my bridesmaid...?

As cheesy as it may be, it might be quite fun to actually 'propose' to your bridesmaids. I've sourced some cute ideas and will definitely be doing some DIY posts for you in the very near future! All of today's ideas have come from Etsy, a great place to look for unique ideas for all aspects of your wedding day.

The idea behind this bridesmaid proposal is that they will pop the balloon and amongst lots of pretty confetti will be your little note.

This one can be found on Etsy here but we will show you how to make it for yourself with a little DIY very soon here on averybrokebride.

For something simple and chic this card from Etsy could be a cute option for only £2.67. Alternatively, you could also make your own DIY version with a little bit of imagination ;)

This rope bracelet could represent you tying the knot and would be great for a nautical themed wedding. You could also think of something similar in a colour that matched your theme so that the maids could wear them on the big day!

For an eclectic, vintage wedding these keys would make a lovely gift for your prospective bridesmaids, especially with their initial on. Again, with a bit of imagination (and a collection of old keys) something similar could be achieved on a tight budget.

If you want to keep an element of surprise, why not give them a locket with your message inside, this way they wont know what you want to ask them until they look inside!

I think it is nice to give your maids something they can keep as a memory but also something they could wear on the big day makes it extra special. What do you think? Let us know by commenting, we love to hear your ideas and feedback!

Colour scheme - Yellow

Yellow is one of my favourite colours. It can be so perfect in Spring and Summer but can also brighten up an Autumn or Winter wedding too!

Why not add yellow pieces to the tables at your reception? You can get creative and do some great DIYs in any colour scheme. We have one similar to this gorgeous 'love' sign coming to the blog soon!

These little DIY felt hearts would make lovely favours, you could even stitch the initials of the bride and groom onto them! They would also make gorgeous little decorations all around a barn or outdoor wedding.

I LOVE sunflowers! I would love to include them in my wedding. A bouquet of sunflowers would be beautiful and look especially lovely with hints of blue or purple!

Staying with my love of sunflowers, how gorgeous is this naked wedding cake with sunflowers?! I have already said in a precious blog post how much I love naked wedding cakes, so pairing them with my favourite flower is definitely a winner in my eyes.

How amazing are these shoes?! If you are planning a vintage themed wedding and want something that is sure to stand out and get people talking then something like these might be perfect!

Reception - Drinks!

So, if you're planning a budget friendly wedding with a vintage feel then these are the perfect way to serve your guest's their drinks! Better still, it is self-service!

These mason jar drinks dispensers are gorgeous and add a really quirky feel to your big day.

You can make your drinks look extra pretty by adding fruit to them. You could even do totally homemade cocktails or mocktails!

These can be found on ebay for the bargain price of £17.99!

It would also be really cute to add little DIY labels in front of these drinks dispensers telling guests exactly what is inside.

Maybe some little blackboard labels like these ones might be up your street. They could be stuck onto the glass itself or onto a little card in front.

DIY - flower girl paper flower and lace hairband

Here's another hairband DIY that could make a lovely hairpiece for any flower girls and the best bit is they can keep it after the wedding!

How gorgeous is our little model?!

This can be made simply with a simple hairband (which can be bought from any bargain store or chemist), a small length of lace or ribbon (you may have some lying around the house or it can easily be bought from any craft or bargain store) and some paper flowers (most craft stores stock these or they can easily be found online).

We chose to add a button and gem onto our flower just to add some more detail but this is totally optional.

What do you think of this hairband option? Do you prefer this to the last one or do you think the hairband from Monday's post is more your style? You can see that post here!

DIY - Paper rose wreath

Nothing like a bit of craft in the sun! Definitely good for the soul :)
Irma and I were so inspired by our paper flower wreath that we decided to make another floral beauty.

This time we decided to create our wreath out of some of the paper roses we had purchased from the craft show. They are just so versatile as we have used them on our other projects I am sure you will have noticed.

Again we painted the cardboard wreath with a lovely pink paint and then wrapped it with these different colours of paper roses. Finishing off by hanging it with some gorgeous lace. The finished result was just gorgeous we hope you will agree :)

Would you decorate your wedding venue in this sort of design? Or perhaps you would just like one to hang in your kitchen ;)

Do let us know what you think by leaving a comment. We really appreciate your feedback as always.

DIY - flower girl floral crown

During our craft day we decided upon making a little floral crown which would be beautiful for the flower girl/s on your wedding day.  We started our project with these paper roses and a plain girls hairband.

These paper roses were purchased from a craft fair and reasonably priced and the hairband was purchased at a local chemist.

So simple and very effective :)

And here is our gorgeous model showing you all how effective our little creation is :)

Simply stunning! What do you think? Would you like this on your flower girl? Or perhaps you would just like one for your darling little princess or youself ;) Let us know your thoughts by leaving us a wee comment!

Colour scheme - Blue

I love looking at all the gorgeous colours people choose for their wedding day. Today I am looking at everything blue.

What about this decadent blue wedding cake?

Your bridesmaids could wear pretty sky blue.

How about a subtle hint of "something blue" by adding a few blue flowers into your bouquet?

Like me, you could add a bit of blue in the form of your wedding shoes. Here is a link to the blog post where I talk all about these gorgeous shoes!

Would you keep to one colour scheme throughout? If so, which colour?

Wedding invitations - Etsy

There are so many places to find amazing, quirky, personal wedding invitations, whether you pay a fortune for them or you download them for free.

I will be looking for ideas for invitations in lots of places but today I have been looking on Etsy which is a great place to search for invitations ranging from printables to gorgeous handmade ones. On Etsy you have to pay for your invitations whether you are printing them from your own computer or having them handmade. The prices can vary from very minimal costs for printing to rather pricey for the handmade items.

If you have a sizeable budget this gorgeous gold set is a beautiful example of what you can buy - starting at $1055 for 50 invitations.

If your budget is more minimal (like mine) then maybe this pretty floral invitation would be a great option at $18.

This map inspired invitation would be gorgeous for any couple who love travel. The prices depend on how many you order starting at £4.00 per invite for 40-49 and dropping to £2.50 per invite for 200+. This seller offers lots of extras such as printing the guests addresses on the envelopes for an extra 35p per invite.

Would you rather pay to have invitations handmade or would you opt for some free customisable printables?

Vintage all around us!

So let's have a wee think about some vintage inspired surroundings for Irma's wedding that won't break the bank.

My favourite guest book idea so far is the one with the polaroid camera, that doesn't mean I don't have an open mind :) There are other cute guest book ideas out there, such as the idea of a very retro type writer? So that guests can type the couple a message on their special day...awww how sweet :)

I found this one on here

Or this one on weddingideasmag.com

Another idea for some perfectly vintage surroundings are to use an old set of wooden stepladders to place some beautiful flowers or memorabilia on. You could also use them to display favors or perhaps even the table plan?

Here is a fine example I found on ebay for £29.99

Or if you fancied something slightly taller this pair is only £25, also for sale on ebay. Perfect with a lick of paint :)

And here is a finished example. How pretty!
Ohhhh.....soooo many ideas!!! Hope they excite you as much as me :)

Well, you've got to start somewhere...

With no date set or any plans made... I bought my wedding shoes.

How could I not? When I saw these beauties, I knew they were the ones. I had been thinking about something glittery because I'd love a short 50s style dress and wanted some shoes that would stand out. These lovely little Faith shoes were an amazing bargain in Debenhams in the sale.

Can you believe that these cost £31.50?! Here they are if you fancy them for yourself (whether you are getting married or just love them as much as I do).

I fell in love with the ombre silver to icy blue glitter and it was an added bonus when a friend I was shopping with said, "Wow, they're like Frozen!" I mean, who doesn't want to look like Elsa on their wedding day?

Would you wear bold shoes on your wedding day or opt for something more traditional?
