Wedding hair accessories - 1920s Gatsby theme

So after quite a long (okay, very long..) break from writing we are getting back into the swing of things with some more 1920s themed posts!

Today we are taking a look at accessories to go with those gorgeous dresses from our last post!

This headband looks absolutely decadent! It is under £10 so a bargain if you are looking for something that will really stand out on your big day!

This ebay seller has 13 different styles of hairband to choose from! I thought this one was beautiful but there will be one to go with any dress in this line-up! Another bargain at under £10.

If you want to go really OTT then something with a feather might be for you! Again at under £10 you really don't have to spend a lot of money to look like you've stepped right out of the Jazz Age.

Would you choose to have some 1920s glamour at your wedding?

Wedding dress - 1920s Gatsby style

Following on from Kelly's post on Saturday, I thought I would have a hunt for affordable 1920s style dresses.

This is an amazingly affordable option which would be great for an outdoor Summer wedding! It is a simple nod to the 20s and would suit quite a casual bride.

If you want more of a fancy dress wedding where you and all of your guests dress up, or maybe you want a shorter, lighter dress to change into after the ceremony that is still in your theme then this dress would be great fun!

If you are looking for something vintage but authentic 1920s dresses are too pricey then the 1970s is a great decade to look at. In the 70s a lot of fashion mirrored styles from the 20s so when looking for vintage 20s style pieces check out the 70s! This etsy piece here is actually a 1970s dress and is much more affordable than any original 20s ones!

This dress is gorgeous with beaded and sequined details. Perfect for a bride who doesn't want to be in a traditional white dress and the dropped waist style will make you look like you've been transported straight from the Jazz Age!

Here is another great option for your reception after you have taken that heavy wedding dress off. This one is quite fancy-dressy but is still amazing! You will make such an impact in this dress! You could even wear something like this for your hen night if you want your theme to extend to that as well!

Hopefully you like some of these 20s style dress options that I have found! Would you choose the 1920s as a theme for your wedding?

Keep your eyes peeled for a post about 1920s themed accessories to go with your gorgeous dress later in the week!

Gatsby Glam!

How about a bit of Gatsby glamour on your wedding day! :) This is a beautifully chic era and simple to recreate for your special day whether it be through your attire or your decor.

 buzzfeed

I found this image here. And if you want an exciting Gatsby inspired head piece you can refer back to my previous blog on headpieces!! :)

Some beautifully elegant flowers like these I found on etsy could be just the perfect finish to your glam 1920's look.

A chair like this one is simple to recreate yourself for a bit of money saving DIY. You just need some pearls and some ribbon :)

Look at these delightful table numbers...

These can be bought in sets of 10 from etsy. I think however I might challenge myself and Irma to recreate a similar look ourselves ;)

And what about this for some effective table decor?

This image I found on buzzfeed. Easy to DIY by scattering pearls and diamonds on the tables :)

Or some pearls dripping from a champagne glass for some added pzazz! A stunning centre piece!

Wedding flowers - Sunflowers

I've said before that I love sunflowers. I would love to have sunflowers everywhere on my wedding day.

My mum is going time it just right to start growing sunflowers in her garden for my wedding to save on costs!

This little centerpiece would be so easy to create yourself.. I've already started collecting jars for lots of little projects!

How cute are these Sunflower cupcakes?! Cupcakes are a great alternative to a huge tiered cake and it means everyone can just help themselves to one! If you have some talented family members or friends then it wouldn't cost too much to make something similar for your own wedding!

If you are having an outdoor wedding, I think this simple idea is gorgeous!

I love how simple and rustic a bouquet of sunflowers can look. I think this is something I will be doing at my wedding. There is something so lovely about the colour yellow that I just love for a wedding!

You could give people a little hint of your sunflower theme with the invitations. These could be a great DIY project for you can your bridesmaids to do!

Why not have your bridesmaids in gorgeous sunflower yellow dresses. They would tie in beautifully with your bouquet and with all the flowers during the day! This one is available on ebay.

No matter the weather, even if it is pouring with rain, sunflowers will brighten up your wedding day!

Decor - a touch of Disney magic

What bride wouldn't want a touch of Disney magic at their wedding?! (Well maybe not every bride, but at averybrokebride we are all for a bit of Disney!)

How gorgeous would these Disney paper flowers be as a bride's bouquet? You can buy these ones on Etsy or if you are super creative you could try your hand at making something similar yourself!

Paper crafts are so popular on Etsy at the minute! This gorgeous garland would be a lovely decoration for any wedding venue.

How amazing would it be to cut your cake with this pretty cake knife and serving set?!

I just love this subtle nod to Disney.. Not all of your guests will understand the Beauty and the Beast reference, but those who do will be very impressed!

This is something I would 100% do at my wedding! Best part is, my husband-to-be is called Andrew and is obsessed with Toy Story. Perfect!

There will definitely be more Disney to come on our blog, but for now we hope you have enjoyed this little selection!

Would you include some subtle hints of Disney or go for a full-on themed wedding?

You have spent an enormous amount of money, everything is perfect...just one last niggle...the favors!

How about some magical fairy dust?

I found these on here but next week we will be showing you here how to DIY little fairy dust bottles.

Another cute, yet inexpensive idea is to give your guests little seeds to plant in memory of your special day. Adorable!

Home or Away?

After spending a long weekend in the beautiful resort of Benalmadena in an almost perfect setting, it got me thinking about the cost of getting married abroad. It would definitely be an option I would consider if I was ever to remarry.

Imagine the setting, almost guaranteed good weather, a breathtaking background of sun, sea and sand....the pictures would be amazing!

In the hotel resort I was staying in they offer a great package deal on weddings which includes a wedding planner, all the legal paperwork, photography, flowers, hair and make up, a welcome drinks reception, a 3 course banquet with free flowing wine, a DJ and more!

Beautiful Sunset Beach Hotel, Benalmadena

All this for around 40 guests costs from 5400Euros, which is roughly just over £4000 at todays exchange rate. I think this is a bargain! If a wedding abroad is something you would consider of course.

But you could have the hen and stag parties there and the honeymoon after. Perfect :)

Would you consider marrying abroad? Let us know what you think, we really appreciate your feedback!
